Live Updates on the West Bengal Election Result 2021: Suvendu Adhikari wins Nandigram by 1,736 votes, and PM Modi congratulates Mamata on the TMC's victory.

Live Updates for the West Bengal Election Result 2021: As votes were being counted, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) sailed past the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal's hotly contested electoral contest, setting the stage for a major win in the politically crucial state.
The voting started at 8 a.m., and after initial leads indicated a neck-and-neck battle, the TMC held a comfortable lead. First, postal ballots were counted. However, as the day progressed, the TMC accelerated ahead of the BJP in the race, leaving its rival far behind.

At 6 p.m., in the 294-seat conference, the TMC crossed the halfway mark, 156 gains and advanced in 216 and 71 in the BJP (45 wins). On Nandigram's seat with great care, Suvendu Adhikari, an assistant opponent, defeated Mamata by 1.622 votes after many floppies on the results.

Outcome of 2016: The TMC gained 211 of the 293 challenged seats. Just three were possible for the BJP (it contested 291 seats). The left-wing coalition and the parliament gained 76 seats. Three were won by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, while the independent candidate won one seat.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed thanks to the people as the TMC led to a slender win on the occasion of the Assembly elections. It was Bengal's victory and democracy's victory. Today, Bengal saved India. After many odds – the Middle, his machines, his agencies – this terrible victory came. This victory saved mankind, Banerjee said, speaking to the press for the first time in about two months as she stood on her feet.

West Bengal Gobernator Jagdeep Dhankhar appreciated the role of the Supreme Congress of Trinamool in the observance of the Covid 19 guidelines and the peace. Dhankhar said in a tweet message, democracy has to do with the people's mandate. In democracy, violence has no place. Enjoy the role @MamataOfficial to comply with Covid guidelines and harmony, he said.

7:35 PM (IST)
PM Modi appreciated the efforts of the partisans in thanking the people of Bengal for helping the BJP increase its presence in the state. I want to thank my West Bengal sisters and brothers who blessed our bunch. BJP's presence increased dramatically from a previously marginal presence. BJP is going to continue to serve the nation. Every Karyakarta I applaud, writes on Twitter, for their spirited effort in polls.
